It is only recently that the problem of infertility, like adoption has started to receive major attention. There could be any number of reasons for the infertility but only your doctor will be able to give you the answer to that question. When couples firstly decide to confer with a specialist for treatment, there are numerous questions that they would like answers to right away; they want to know who has the problem. It is both a medical and social problem in America where infertility is responsible for an estimated eleven percent of couples remaining childless.

If you and your spouse have been unable to conceive for a year, the first thing to do is to visit your family doctor, who will conduct a physical examination of both partners; this will determine the general state of health and evaluate any physical disorders that may be causing the problem. Listening to misleading talks and learning how difficult it is for an older woman to have a child, many women have now developed this mental attitude in their minds that it will hard or difficult for them to conceive. This mental state often affects couples when they become certain they are infertile and it destroys any chances of them conceiving. Another problem is known as Secondary Infertility and is characterized by the inability for a woman to conceive after a year of unprotected sexual intercourse following the delivery of the first child.

A common problem for men experiencing this problem has to do with the sperm itself. High levels of oxidative stress can be the reason for the poor sperm quality in men according to clinical research. The answer is to reduce oxidative stress and improve the sperm quality, similar research has shown. Fertility can also be enhanced by the use of natural vitamins and supplements to improve the overall health of the body and it won't harm any other treatments you are currently undergoing.

Fertility treatments and other procedures are expensive and cannot guarantee success so the small cost and definite health benefits of supplements and minerals makes it all the more worth while. If your infertility problem is stress related you may want to try acupuncture which helps the release of endorphins and other chemicals that help reduce stress. Some medical insurance companies may try to deny your fertility treatment costs but you can argue that it is a legitimate medical procedure and should be covered. If your insurance company just won't cover it, the good news is that infertility treatment, like most medical procedures is tax-deductible.
